Ese Ukpeseraye, Delta state cyclist, has claimed the first gold medal at the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) in Edo state.
Ukpeseraye finished first in the 80km cycling road race on Day 1 of the NSF.
The Delta state athlete beat twelve other cyclists to get a podium finish.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had promised a reward of N1 million for every gold medal won by the state contingent.
Comfort and Grace Ayuba, two sisters representing Edo state, won silver and bronze respectively.
In the swimming event, Bayelsa won three gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals.
Ifiemi Gagbe won the women’s 100 and 200 meters freestyle events.

Yellow Yeighya won the men’s 200 meters freestyle while Doutimi Gagbe clinched the bronze medal in the men’s butterfly stroke.
Meanwhile, in the Judo event, Bayelsa also won two gold medals and a bronze.
Ese Bassey and Selere Mathias clinched gold while Udeze Amarachi won a bronze medal.
