Troops at Moriki, Zamfara State on Wednesday intercepted 4,653 rounds of ammunition disguised as rice.
The troops were tipped off on an intelligent information about the movement of ammunition. On getting the information, an emergency stop and search checkpoint was mounted.
Shortly after, a motorcycle arrived with a bag looking like a bag of rice. The men didn’t wait for the routine check and sped off but were hotly chased by the troops.
They got a hold of the bike but the rider fled and on checking the bag, they discovered the rounds of ammunition of 7.62mm (special).
