COVID-19 Worsens In Nigeria As NCDC Announces 1867 New Cases – Highest Daily Toll Ever

Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases increased further on Friday, January 16, 2021, with 1867 new infections in 24 states.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known in its daily update on Coronavirus.

The unit through their daily report showed that the country reached a record of 107,345.

The data released by NCDC showed that 8 people were recorded dead leading to a total number of 1413. Meanwhile, 505 persons were discharged.

Daily Record As NCDC Reports Over 1600 New Infections

In its record, Lagos had the highest number of 713 individuals who tested positive, while Plateau had a record of 273 and then FCT, 199.

Kaduna recorded 117, Oyo 79, Enugu 58, Ondo 53 Kano 49, Sokoto 43, Ogun 37, Osun 37, Nasarawa 36 and Rivers 28.

While Benue, Delta and Niger recorded 24, Gombe had a list of 18, Edo 15, Taraba 12, Bayelsa 10, Ekiti 9, Borno 6, Zamfara 2, and Jigawa 1.

This record has brought the nation to a total number of 107,345 confirmed cases, 84,535 discharged, and 1413 deaths.
