The Deputy Governor of Bauchi state and chairman of Covid-19 task force “Mr Baba Tela” has been confirmed positive for the Coronavirus.
The Senior Assistant to the Governor Mukhtar Gidao in a statement on Tuesday confirmed Tela’s covid-19 status, saying that the development followed a test carried out on him by the NCDC after he evinced symptoms of the Coronavirus
Mr Mukthar Gidao stated:
“This is to inform the General public that His Excellency Senator Baba Tela, Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, who is also the Chairman, State Task Force on COVID-19, was confirmed positive of Coronavirus,” the statement read in part.
“Consequently, His Excellency Sen. Baba Tela has gone into self-isolation in Bauchi and health professionals are properly managing his situation.
“Similarly, samples of all his primary contacts have been taken by the NCDC for test and they are advised to remain in isolation pending the outcome of their results.”
Mr Baba Tela is said to have contracted the disease while performing his duties as the Deputy Governor and has now gone into self isolation while his health is being monitored by NCDC health personnel.
Bauchi state has now recorded 241 cases of the Novel Coronavirus while 8 deaths has been confirmed.
