Front line Health workers are increasingly at risk of contracting the Coronavirus in Nigeria.
Dr. Aliyu Sokomba Preident Nigeria Association of resident doctors Made this known in a television interview today.
While decrying the Slash in Salaries of workers in Kaduna state by the state Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the associations President said a further cut in the salaries of health workers in particular who are in the heart of fighting the pandemic is retrogresive in efforts to contain the virus.
He further said that the action has become a disincentive for health workers who risk their lives saying instead of being encouraged with additional stimulus packages as seen in other climes the reverse is the case.
Special Adviser to the Kaduna state Governor Muyiwa Adekeye on behalf of the state said the government is giving out Daily package including life insurance packages particularly for the health workers.. despite the blanket salary slash.
He further said the salaries being cut is across board and not an action that selects with regards the health workers.
