A Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State has ordered the remand of a notorious kidnapper, Bode Agbedun, at the Olokuta Correctional Centre, for alleged armed robbery and kidnapping.

The defendant, who is an ex-convict, was charged by men of the Ondo Security Agency also known as Amotekun on Wednesday, arraigned on a five-count charge bothering conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, possession of firearms, and burglary.
The state counsel, P. O. Nwafor informed the court that the defendant and his gang committed the offence on November 25, 2023, at about 2am at Igodan, New Site area in Okitipupa.
Nwafor said the defendant, while fully armed with dangerous weapons, broke into the house of one Mr. Ilesanmi Goodluck and attempted to kidnap one of his children and also stole his property.
Nwafor alleged that the defendant had in his possession a loaded firearm (gun) without a valid license.
The offences, according to the charge contravened Sections 6, 5, of Ondo State Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Abduction Law, 2010, Sections 1 (2) (a) and (b), 6(2), 411 of the Criminal Code Law, of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap RII, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Also, it runs contrary to Section 412 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. 37, Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP).
Magistrate Damilola Sekoni ordered the remanded defendant in the Olokuta Correctional Centre and adjourned the case to January 25, 2023.
