The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya CFR, on 15 May 2023, was in Edo State on official visit to commission and handover a newly built and equipped Model Primary Health Care Facility in Obareren Community of Ovia North-East LGA.

In his remarks at the official commissioning and handover ceremony, the COAS stated that the Nigerian Army had made efforts over the years to give back to communities where it operates as part of its corporate social responsibility.
He averred that it was in this light that the Nigerian Army carries out Quick Impact Projects across the country as part of its CIMIC drive in winning the hearts and minds of the civil populace. He noted that the Nigerian Army had enjoyed a high level of cooperation and goodwill from the good people of Obareren Community of Ovia North-East LGA, thereby necessitating the donation of the project being commissioned.
The COAS appreciated the Project Executor, an illustrious son of Obareren Community, Maj Gen DIO Ehiorobo, in whose honour the Nigerian Army carried out the project in his community.

He lauded the efforts of the Project Executor for identifying a project that would cater to the well-being of the community and humanity in general.
Also, speaking at the event, the Project Executor, Maj Gen DIO Ehiorobo, noted that the COAS’ Special Intervention CIMIC Projects Scheme in his community was timely. He emphasised that the newly built and equipped Model Primary Health Care Facility would go a long way in addressing the plight of the people of Obareren. He also expressed appreciation to the COAS for his magnanimity and zeal in fostering the execution of several Quick Impact Projects across the country.
Important dignitaries that graced the occasion included; His Royal Highness, the Odionwere of Obareren Community, Commander TRADOC Nigerian Army Maj Gen Gen SO Olabanji, Chief of Operations (Army) Maj Gen TA Lagbaja, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (Army) Maj Gen MG Kangye and Director Defence Simulation Centre Maj Gen FO Omoigui. Others included; Commander Corps of Supply and Transport Nigerian Army Maj Gen Akerejola, Chief of Military Intelligence (Army) Maj Gen DI Salihu, Provost Marshal (Army) Maj Gen OR Aiyenigba, Commandant Nigerian Army School of Suppply Maj Gen Otaru and GOC 2 Division Nigerian Army Maj Gen MT Usman amongst other senior officers of the Nigerian Army and Executives from the Edo State Government.
Highlights of the events included cultural displays from different troupes, cutting of the commissioning tape, presentation of souvenirs and group photograph.
