SO THAT WE MAY STOP THE LIES
My attention has been drawn to the vituperations of a vile clown who writes in all caps especially on my refusal to sign a publication thanking Mr President for purportedly granting the approval for the siting of Airforce University in Tafawa Balewa.
Since I am a representative of the people and a key stakeholder in Zaar Land, I am equally accountable to the people. I am compelled to issue this write up in order to inform and clear the ignorance of this clown and others who may suffer from same on this subject matter.
Prof Yalams was the one who claimed to have authored the publication in question and had approached me to sign. Although I considered it an insult for him to ask me to sign a document I had no input whatsoever as none of them knew the subject matter more than I do. It was like the tail wagging the dog. Nonetheless, I asked Prof Yalams to oblige me a copy of the said Mr President’s approval for which they were thanking him. He promised to send it, ASAP but for the records he is yet to do so. MEANING IT WAS A DUMB LIE. If anyone has a copy of the said approval, he/she should please send it to me. If there was no such approval, was it not an attempt to blackmail Mr President? HE Muazu is my Boss anytime, he knows me well enough to know that there is no way he can persuade me to LIE or blackmail Mr President. I cannot recall that he ever attempted to persuade me to sign such a publication and if he did, he would have wasted his time in that, although I respect him but I fear God enough to know that I must not engage in promoting LIES.
I also had a serious reservations on why prominent elites were not listed as signatories which included even one time caretaker councilors. Notable amongst the excluded were, My Lord, Justice Tsammani, Gung Zaar Select, Dr B.B Bukar ( two term Commissioner), Gen Kwasba, Bala Gambar, Elisha Gwamis (two term Chairman), Hon Aminu Tukur (One time Chairman and two term Hon Member BSHA), Hon Rifkatu Danna (two term Member BSHA), Yerima Maijamaa Bununu, Hon Williams Wadni and host of others. I asked why and Prof Yalams, the acclaimed author couldn’t offer even an attempted explanation as to why he excluded such notable personalities from the list of signatories. Since no explanation came, I concluded it was a cowardly attempt to divide our ranks as a people against the quest to unite not just Zaar but all other ethnic nationalities in my Constituency – a quest I have pursued with undying commitment all these years. It’s obvious that I could never have been part of this divisive agenda not minding who was for or against.
For the records, I make bold to say that I am solely responsible for the efforts to establish the Airforce University in Tafawa Balewa thanks to support from Air/M Sadiq and at some point Lt Gen Buratai who had accepted to convert the facility to a Campus of the Army University, Biu before Air/M Sadiq asked that he be allowed to host the Airforce University there. They are all alive today and all the meetings took place at my residence then. Prof Bogoro as ES TEDFUND no doubt facilitated the building of the facility for which he must be given credit but provision was made to pay ATBU back during the negotiations. I have in possession the documents Prof Bogoro and the then ATBU VC brought to me containing ATBU’s claims that must be fully met before the facility is taken over by the Airforce.
Furthermore, I ensured the passage of the Law establishing the Airforce University in collaboration with Air/M Sadiq who is alive today and can verify these assertions. I haven’t brought out these facts so far because I consider leadership not to be a zero sum game. Those struggling for credit can take the credit of my humble efforts and I truly don’t care who takes the credit provided our vision is realised. But God knows who is responsible for what and he will promote us according to what he knows not according to the wild LIES making the rounds.
Establishing a Federal University is a matter that goes beyond the efforts of one man. Not even a Director, Permanent Secretary or Minister can lay claim to establishing a Govt University alone, anywhere. Therefore the rantings of clowns and their ilks who wants to divide us will not stop me from pursuing an Idea I singlehanded started while they were all asleep but now struggling hard to take the credit just because they appended their signatures to a mendacious document which at best was an attempt to blackmail or tie the hands of Mr President.
Anyone who knows the President as much as I do, knows that he hates blackmail and I knew the publication was going to be counter productive as it truly turned out to be. I advise the writer to continue to take his crumbs but resist the temptation to offer commentaries on subjects he knows next to nothing about. His latest effort has done him no good as he only succeeded in exposing his paymasters by drawing this counter punch of gospel truths.
Our stakeholders must note that if we were to leave the establishment of the University to them alone, the Airforce University may never become a reality.
Consequently, I call on all of us to do everything legally possible within our spheres of influence to cradle this vision to fruition. I thought there was a handing over ceremony or drama that took place at the site. Does it take an intelligent person to ask where are the first set of Students, years after the said handing over ceremony of the facility took place? Who is FOOLING WHO?? Let us stop the LIES and go to work, please!
