Chief Of Defence Staff General CG Musa Establishes Sector 4

Chief of Defense Staff General Christopher Musa has established Sector 4 Command in Adamawa State.

In a statement made available to ControlTV in Abuja, the Director, Defence Information Brigadier General Tukur Gusau said the move is aimed at enhancing national security and foster an enabling environment for economic growth and development,

CDS General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on the 11 of July 2025, went on Operational Visit to Adamawa State, were he also paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. According to the CDS, the visit is aimed at assessing the operational readiness of troops, understanding their challenges, and identifying areas requiring additional support.

While in talks with the governor at the government house Adamawa General Musa commended the Federal Government for its continued support to the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), noting that such backing has significantly improved operational outcomes.

CDS Musa thanked the Governor for his continued support to members of the Armed Forces and families of victims; emphasizing the dual approach of the Armed Forces in combating insecurity with kinetic and non-kinetic means has continued to yields more sustainable outcomes.

General Musa highlighted the strong link between development and security, stating that when citizens benefit directly from governance, they are more likely to support and protect the system. He identified poverty and illiteracy as major drivers of insecurity, pointing out that vulnerable populations are more easily recruited into insurgent groups. He also commended the people of Adamawa State for maintaining relative peace in spite of security challenges across the country. The CDa also informed Governor Fintiri that DHQ has approved the establishment of sector 4 to address security issues in Northern Adamawa.
In response, Governor Fintiri shared his optimism and commitment to supporting the Armed Forces with tactical, strategic, and logistical resources to boost ongoing operations. He noted an uptick in terrorist activity within the state and reiterated the importance of a robust military presence saying the sector 4 establishment is coming at a right time to deal with security threats.

In line with the new sector 4, The Governor has taken proactive supportive measures by approving that all roads in Gibson Jalo Barracks be rehabilitated and announced the recruitment of local hunters to support the military in combating insecurity.

While addressing troops within the operational area, the CDS announced plans to construct additional barracks and increase military presence in the state in response to emerging threats identified in the region.

General Musa thanked the troops for their resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. He conveyed the heartfelt appreciation of the Commander-in-Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and urged the troops to continue their efforts in identifying and neutralizing criminal elements.

9. In addition, the Commander 23 Brigade, Brigadier General OA Agwu also briefed the CDS on the operational activities of his area of operations. In his response, the CDS commended the officers and soldiers of 23 Brigade for improving the peace in the area. The CDS also notified the Brigade about the establishment of Sector 4 Operation Hadin Kai with Headquaters in Mubi.
The Defence Chief also visited 153 Base Service Group Nigeriran Air Force, to ascertain the state of its facilities.
