The UK Government froze the assets of owner Roman Abramovich as they clamp down on oligarchs, which could affect the Russian’s hopes of selling the club.

The 49-year-old is set to attend Sunday’s match against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge and has underlined his intention to put fans first if any bid – which will be backed by American investors – was successful.
“We are examining the details of the announcement and we are still interested in making a bid,” a spokesperson for Candy told the Daily Mail.”Clearly this is a time of great uncertainty for all Chelsea fans. Candy’s spokesperson has also revealed he plans to redevelop Stamford Bridge – something that had been on the cards under Abramovich.
