Yoruba rights activist Sunday “Igboho” Adeyemo has announced that the Yoruba Nation rally previously scheduled to hold in Lagos on July 3 has been suspended.
He said this hours after his house in Ibadan, Oyo State, was on Thursday attacked by gunmen. Multiple reports have said that the gunmen killed occupants of the house and abducted others, including Igboho’s wife.

Recall that Yoruba self-determination groups had held peaceful rallies in different parts of the South-West with that of Lagos scheduled for Saturday.
However, Igboho has told BBC News Pidgin that the rally in Lagos has been suspended.
Earlier today, an umbrella body of Yoruba secessionist groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, declared that the Yoruba Nation rally would hold on Saturday as scheduled despite the attack on the activist’s home.
In a statement signed by its leader, Banji Akintoye, the group had said, “We want to confirm again that the Pro-Yoruba Nation rally scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 3rd, in Lagos will proceed as scheduled”.
