The owner of the collapsed 21-storey building in the Ikoyi area of Lagos has been arrested by the state government.
He was arrested for building a 21-storey structure after being given the approval to construct 15 floors.

The General Manager, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Gbolahan Oki disclosed this in an exclusive interview with News agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Oki disclosed that the owner would be prosecuted for his action that had cost human lives.
He said: “He got an approval for a 15-storey building and he exceeded his limit. I am on ground here and the materials he used are so inferior and terrible.

“The materials he used for the reinforcement are so terrible. He got approval for 15 floors but built 21. He has been arrested.” he added”.
Control TV News had reported how A 21- storey building that was under construction collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos on Monday.
Officials of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, are currently at the scene of the incident to salvage the lives of those trapped.
It was gathered that about 50 people were at the site when the incident occured.
The official added that so far, four people have been rescued alive and three bodies recovered. Rescue efforts are continuing.
Dozens of people were at the site when the incident occurred. The construction was to end in 2022.
