Despite the disbandment of the SARS Nigerians have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to address the nation and make an executive order to confirm the scrapping of the police unit.
This agitation had prompted a massive gridlock at Lekki Toll Gate as #EndSARS protesters shutdown the expressway on Monday morning.
The Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu, had earlier on Sunday afternoon, announced the disbandment of the police unit following protests and outcry over atrocities attributed to the unit spread across the country.
However, The development came as an unsatisfactory response to the Nigerian youth as they crave for a stern solution to their plight on excesses of the FSARS.
Some of the demands of the EndSars protesters are,
- Release of all arrested protesters
- Increased salaries for police officers
- Investigation and prosecution of all reports of police misconduct within 10 days.
- psychological evaluation and re-training of all disbanded SARS officers before they are redeployed.
- National Broadcast From President Muhammadu Buhari
- Executive Order of the disbandment of Sars with signature from various arms of government.
