Just two and a half months since these two sides went head-to-head for silverware in the 2021/22 Carabao Cup final in late February.

With both sides converting their first kicks, César Azpilicueta’s kick hit the crossbar to give the ‘Reds’ an advantage in the shootout, before Sadio Mané’s spot-kick was superbly saved by Mendy which saw the match go into sudden death.
Mason Mount’s kick was well saved by Allison, Kostas Tsimikas stepped up, sent Mendy the wrong way, giving the Merseysiders a cup double over the blues.
Liverpool’s triumph means the FA Cup and EFL Cup are in the trophy cabinet this season.
