The former group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Joseph Dawha, is dead.
Group Managing Director of the Corporation, Mallam Mele Kyari, announced his death on his Twitter handle,
He said, “The NNPC family regrets to announce the passing away of Dr Joseph Thalama Dawha, GMD NNPC 2014- 2015 after a brief illness.”
“We remember his astute leadership and immense contributions to the progress of the Corporation. It’s a great loss to us, the nation and the family.”
In 2014, former President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Dawha to replace Andrew Yakubu.
Before he was appointed GMD, Dawha served as the group executive director, exploration and production of the corporation.
The former GMD who hailed from Borno joined the corporation in 1988.
Dawha’s death is coming about two months after Maikanti Baru, the immediate past NNPC GMD, died.
