Deputy speaker Yekini Idiaye of the Edo House of Assembly has been impeached.
The lawmaker representing Orhionmwon II Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Roland Asoro, has been elected as the new deputy speaker of the House.
Idiaye’s impeachment followed after an election in a plenary session by the members of the assembly, appointing Roland Asero as the new Deputy Speaker.
The members of the assembly also elected Henry Ohkuarobo as the new House Leader on Wednesday.
Idaye’s impeachment is coming barely three days after he pledged his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-iyamu.
