Governor of Abia State Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has tested positive to covid-19. The state commission of information John Kalu made the announcement in a statement on Monday morning.
The statement said the governor had gone into isolation before his results turned positive and that he has directed the deputy governor of the state to act on his behalf pending the time he resumes duty.
“Consequent on the above the Governor has directed his deputy Right honourable Use Chukwu to act on his behalf pending his full resumption to duties”.
We wish to urge all Abians to take the fight against Covid-19 seriously as the disease is real but not a death sentence.
Our state has the resources to manage patients back to good health the statement says. It will be recalled that governor of Bauchi as well as now, the Deputy governor Bala Tela have all come down with Covid-19. While the governor of bauchi state Bala Mohammed has recovered from the disease his Deputy is still in isolation.
