A five man member panel of the Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed the appeal filed by Action Peoples Party challenging the election of Yahaya Bello as the Governor of Kogi State.
In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Mohammed Shuaibu, the court affirmed the decision of the tribunal which dismissed their petition.
The Judge consequently awarded a cost of One hundred thousand naira against the Appellant.
The APP in its appeal claimed that INEC unlawfully excluded them from the 2019 Governorship Election in Kogi State.
Recall that violence and electoral misconduct were recorded in the Kogi Gubernatorial election with many citizens of the state disenfranchised. A helicopter hovered over a Crowther Memorial Secondary School polling unit.
At the Crowther Memorial Secondary School in Lokoja, six Hilux vans filled with people in police uniform also drove into the centre and started shooting into the air, forcing voters to scamper for safety.
Control TV actively monitored the Election and gathered at the time that Crowther a PDP stronghold was Allegedly being run over by the rulling APC to get votes. It was however not clear whether APC thugs carried away the ballot boxes as alleged by the PDP.
