The Lagos State government has announced that an accident involving two tankers has occurred on the Kara Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accident which occurred in the early hours of Friday morning has caused heavy traffic.
Recall that there was a similar occurrence on the 21st June, 2020 involving two fuel laden tankers and a trailer at the center of Kara Bridge along the Lagos Ibadan Express Way, which caused a heavy explosion as fire spewed out of the bridge.
However, Gbenga Omotosho, the Commissioner for Information revealed on that one of the tankers has been removed, with the second also being evacuated at the moment.
He said:
“An accident involving two (2) fuel tankers has occurred at Kara inwards Ibadan on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The one carrying diesel (AGO) has been recovered. Efforts are on to remove the second one carrying petrol (PMS).
“As a result of this, the section of the road leading to Mowe from New Garage (Ojodu-Berger) has been cordoned off to prevent a secondary accident while contra flow is in place to reduce delays.
“All Traffic Management, Security and Emergency Management Agencies are on the scene managing the incident and traffic ro reduce delays and ensure safety of all.”
