The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC moments ago in Yenogoa the Bayelsa state capital announced David Lyon of the APC as the winner of the Bayelsa election.
The Electoral Umpire made the announcement after a collation process that lasted over 7hours.
The Returning Officer of INEC in Bayelsa State Professor Faraday Orunmuwese, announced this on Monday morning.
Professor Orunmuwese returned Lyon as the winner of the keenly contested election after scoring the highest number of votes in the poll.
The APC candidate polled a total of 352,552 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Duoye Diri, who scored 143,172 votes.
He said the APC candidate having fulfilled the requirements by law and according to the electoral act is now decleared the winner and is here by returned.
The streets of Yenagoa erupted in Jubilation at the declaration that saw election done in all 8 LGA’s of the state.
