It was also gathered that the attacks left hundreds of others, including women and children, with various degrees of injury. The bandits also plundered the villages, stealing cattle and other belongings from the attacked communities.
One unnamed source told SaharaReporters that the villagers have fleed their communities and have refused to return for fear of another attack.
“All of us have abandoned and deserted our communities for fear of another attack. We have buried some of our people,” the source said.
Deadly attacks have raged across Zamfara State in recent months as the entire country has seen a surge in attacks by bandits and criminal herdsmen. Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that shooters, suspected to be bandits, killed six policemen along Gusau/Sokoto Road, near Dogon Karfe in the Bakura Local Government Area.
