A Masked Nigerian soldier who posted a video online appealing to his colleagues to not be violent with peaceful protesters has been accused of cybercrimes by the military.
The video was posted on the micro-blogging site two days before the Tuesday killing of peaceful protesters at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos, by soldiers.
The hooded soldier Who goes by the name “Lance Corporal Harrison Friday” in the video said the #EndSARS protests “is our fight”, while appealing to fellow soldiers not to be “fooled” by authorities who order them to fire at protesters.
“The fight the civilians are fighting is our fight, do not let them (the Nigerian government) use us,”he said.
“If you are firing civilians, the bullets may hit your brother or your sister.
“This fight is our fight. If peace is okay in the country and every soldier is well-paid, (every) civilian is well-paid, nobody would want to fly out of this country,” the soldier said.
The Nigerian Army through its twitter handle announced the arrest of Lance Corporal Friday hours after soldiers were accused of shooting and killing protesters in Lagos.

They had tagged the masked officer as a fake soldier after the video became viral on social media.

Nigerians espied the killings of EndSars protesters by Security operatives as they discharged live ammunition at the youths agitating for a reform at the Lekki-Epe toll gate.
The Nigerian Army has called reports that its soldiers were responsible for Tuesday’s massacre as “Fake News”.
The Nigerian military has also not tendered a comprehensive statement to explain its involvement, After recordings glaringly showed its operatives at the scene of the attack.
