Nigerian governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met on Sunday, January 16, to decide on a date for the party’s national convention which was earlier set for February
The APC had suspended its planned national convention as the party’s crisis worsens and some governors accused of hijacking plans for the national convention. The party’s decision to move the national convention to June follows several litigations among party members.
The Latest meeting held at the lodge of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state on Sunday throws more light on the next steps the party will take leading up to the Presidential elections next year.
The governors in this meeting under the Progressives Governors Forum decided to stick to February as the month for the convention, they also gave a vote of confidence on the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, as chairman of the ruling party’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC)
However, Governor Badugu, who is the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), told journalists after the meeting that the APC is yet to fix a set date for the convention in February.
