Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won the Anambra governorship elections and has been so declared by INEC winning 19 of the 21 local government areas of the state.
“That Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, won 19 of 21 local governments in the just concluded elections which ran for 3 days.
Independent National Electoral Commission’s Chief Returning Officer for the poll, Professor Florence Obi, announced the outcome on Wednesday morning.
Other candidates in what started out a keen contest fell dismally behind Soludo who gave a clean sweep to the race. Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (Mr Valentine Ozigbo) and Young Progressives Party (Senator Ifeanyi Ubah) recorded a little above failed performances winning a local government each.
Matters turned fir the worst for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Andy Uba, who didn’t win at all in the election.
Soludo, 61, and a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, got 112,229 votes, in a widened gap as his closest contestant, PDP’s Ozigbo with 53,807 votes couldn’t see the tail of the APGA Candidate.
Uba and Ubah scored 43,285 and 21,261 votes in that order.
