
The Resident Representative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Ambassador Ngozi Ukaeje, has lauded the deployment of Nigerian troops to Guinea Bissau in a bid to stabilize the region.
Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa gave the directive for the troops deployment.
The Ambassador made commendations to the actions of the CDS on Thursday, August 21, during her visit to the newly deployed Nigerian Contingent (NIGCON) 4.

, The visit marked the official welcoming of the contingent following a smooth rotation between NIGCOY 3 and NIGCOY 4.
Ambassador Ukaeje praised General Musa for his unwavering dedication and commitment in facilitating Nigeria’s continued support to the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau.
She asked the troops to remain professional in their duties, uphold exemplary conduct, and project a positive image of Nigeria and ECOWAS. The envoy reminded them of the sensitive period ahead, with Guinea-Bissau’s presidential and parliamentary elections approaching, stressing the need for utmost caution, discipline, and professionalism.
In her words, “Your actions will speak louder than your words. Let your conduct reflect your mission of stabilization support and your commitment to peace,”.
Ambassador Ukaeje warmly welcomed the troops and wished them a successful tenure, assuring them of ECOWAS’ continued support.
Similarly, the envoy visited the Ghanaian Contingent (GHANCOY 4), where she also commended the successful handover between GHANCOY 3 and 4. She also lauded their professionalism and asked them to sustain the high standards of conduct expected during the sensitive election period.
Ambassador Ukaeje concluded her visits by expressing confidence that the collective efforts of Nigerian and Ghanaian contingents will significantly contribute to peace, stability, and democratic consolidation in Guinea-Bissau.
