The National Chairman of The Progressive Shareholders Association Mr Okezie Boniface has slammed the Governor of Abia state, Ikpeazu For what he calls negligence over the state of medical Infrastructure in Abia state.
Governor Ikpeazu tested positive to COVID-19 on July 8, 2020, and was treated in an Isolation Center in Abuja.
On the 30th May 2020, the Governor volunteered his sample for COVID-19 test and subsequently directed members of the state executive council and those of the inter-ministerial committee on COVID-19 to submit themselves for the same test.
Governor Ikpeazu went into isolation leaving his Deputy Governor to be in charge of affairs until he completes his treatment.
The Governor has since then recovered from Covid-19 and has resumed his duty after been in Isolation for three weeks.
However the Chairman of progressive shareholders association Mr Okozie Boniface has noted some disturbing issues regarding Gov Ikpeazu recovery.
According to Mr Okezie, The governor shouldn’t have treated himself of an ailment outside of his state, ”knowing the poor conditions of the hospitals in Abia, Gov Ikpeazu treated himself elsewhere”. He said
He said it is a big challenge if the First Citizen of Abia state cannot afford to treat himself of COVID-19 in his own State.
Mr Okezie stated that other Governors that came out positive for the coronavirus treated themselves in their respective States but Gov Ikpeazu’s case was the opposite.
While wishing the state Governor good health, He further Urged Him to Equip all Teaching Hospitals in Abia and all other medical centres in the state with the rights medical Equipment, As poor people in the state cannot travel to Abuja for treatment.

He also added that the Governor should pay whatever allowance he owes the health worker’s at the right time.

because all of them that have ruled the state have failed to provide a better health care for the people of the state and themselves as well
“Covid-19 have indeed expose all of them that find themselves in office and refuse to work this time around no flying abroads for medical helps hence we need to Equip our Aba teaching Hospital and all other medical centers in the state with the rights medical Equipment and good personnel to manage them as well as paying them at the right time”.
“I wish him continues good healths as he goes back to Umuahia to start work let him remember the poor in that state who can not afford to go to Abuja or elsewhere to seek medical treatments ,this time call for actions”.
”A second chance has been offered to him by God to go and correct the mistake of the past”.
