Dave Umahi Governor of Ebonyi State on Saturday said he has tested positive for coronavirus.
The Governor in a statement said some of his close aides also tested positive for the virus.
Governor Umahi further stated that, presently, they are no symptoms but have since gone into isolation.
The Governor has directed the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, to take over the frontline coordination of the state’s fight against the pandemic.
The Governor appealed to the people of Ebonyi state to take the NCDC protocols more seriously, stating that he’s working from home and will conduct all meetings virtually.
The Governor of Eboyin is the sixth state governor that would be infected with the novel virus.
Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu tested for the novel coronavirus Earlier this week.
