President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday sought the confirmation of the Senate for appointment of 41 nominees as non career ambassadors to Nigerian foreign missions.
Buhari’s request is contained in a letter addressed to President of Senate, Ahmad Lawan and read at plenary on Wednesday.
Buhari stated: “In accordance to Section 171 (1)(2)(c) and Sub-section (4) of the 1999 constitution as amended, I have the honour to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the underlisted forty-two names of nominees as Career Ambassadors-designate.”
However, Buhari has also asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of three nominees as commissioners in the Federal Civil Service Commission and further asked for approval of the Senate for the appointment of a federal commissioner for the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
Some of the non-career ambassadorial nominees are, former minister, Ademola Seriki (Lagos), Debo Adesina (Oyo), Dare Sunday-Awoniyi (Kogi).
