Some staff at the UCH also claimed they deserve an equal share as the doctors who get paid 50% of their basic salary.
The University Teaching Hospital low level staffs which includes the security attendants who get paid 10% and 20% in some cases, noted that they’re more exposed to the novel virus than the doctors. They say they are the first point of contact with patients when they arrive at the hospital and as such deserve more.
Reports have confirmed that a number of security personnel at the hospital tested positive for COVID-19.
While chanting “we no go gree o”, the UCH protesters demanded their 50% share of the COVID-19 hazard allowance as promised to them by the Federal Government.
