Nigeria’s Top-tier institution, University of Ibadan [ UI ] has confirmed on Wednesday that Godwin Obaseki undertook a degree course in Classics at the institution and graduated in 1979.
Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki truly graduated from the University of Ibadan (UI), the institution’s management has confirmed this and has put an end to the controversy raised over the Edo governor’s educational qualifications.
APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole, said recently that the APC’s screening committee should investigate the validity of Obaseki’s certificate as he has doubts on the governor’s credentials.
However the certificate forgery suit was debarred by the university’s Registrar, Mrs Olubunmi Faluyi, who said that Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, studied Classics.
She stated;
“Obaseki gained admission to the University in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division.
“Records of his Admission and Graduation are intact in the archives of the University.” she said.
There has been some concerns in Edo State over the palpable lack of rapprochement between National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole and the current governor of the State, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki.
The former labour leader was instrumental to the emergence of Obaseki but fell out with the governor shortly before he declared his re-election bid, Complication between Obaseki and Oshiomole is giving rise to crises in the state and the rift between them continue to deepen.
