Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday resumed duty at the Senate by attending plenary after his release from Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja For alleged fraud.
Kalu who has been in jail for Six month resumed today to represent his constituency Abia North for his Senatorial duty today 9th June, 2020.
In Plenary: Chief Whip Senator Kalu arrived at exactly 9:00AM and also spent minutes acknowledging greetings and cheers In the Red Chambers.

Mr Kalu said while been interviewed by reporters outside the Senate Chambers;
“They know I was action governor and I am going to be action senator; so there is no problem.
My constituency and Nigerians, we need to focus our agenda to them. Let’s keep hope alive and see what the future brings,”
Senator Kalu was convicted in December 2019 for allegedly misappropriating N7.65b belonging to Abia state.
However Mr Orji Kalu’s conviction has been nullified by the Supreme Court on May 8th. A seven-member panel of the apex court, in a unanimous verdict delivered by Justice Ejembi Eko, invalidated the conviction.
The controversy lingered as the prison authority denied releasing the embattled senator.
