A Boko Haram suicide bomber was suspected to have carried out the deadly attack resulting in the deaths of 16 individuals and critical injuries to several others on Wednesday, July 31.
The state Police public relations officer, (PRO) ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, made this known in a statement on Thursday, August 1.
According to Punch reports, Governor Zulum consulted with top security officials before implementing this measure. Daso said the curfew aims to restore law and order and ensure public safety. According to the statement, the injured persons were on admission across various Government hospitals in the state.
“In line with our constitutional mandate towards the restoration of law and order his Excellency the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umar Zulum in consultation with heads of security in the state, finds it expedient to declare 24hrs curfew in the state with immediate effect.”
The police spokesperson urged residents to stay calm and adhere to the curfew.
