All Progressives Congress (APC), through its youth wing, has made plans to host an inaugural Enterprise-Skills Development Training (EDET) Programme.
The programme which aims to support both aspiring and existing business owners is scheduled to hold from July 8 to 12 2024.
This is part of the party’s four-year strategic plan to improve youth self-sufficiency and promote social justice among them.
The APC National Youth Leader, Dr. Dayo Israel revealed this through a statement released on Friday.
According to Israel, the programme will host over 1,000 live participants and more than 3,000 virtual participants all over the nation.
The Youth leader notes that activities under the programme include lectures, case studies, team exercises, and coaching from experienced entrepreneurs.
Israel added that participants would engage in case discussions, experience sharing, and teamwork to develop a comprehensive understanding of what is required to build and sustain new businesses as well as drive successful innovations, whether within established firms or new SME ventures.
He said, “The programme’s content spans multiple industries, including the freelance economy, fast-moving consumer goods, e-commerce, mini-importation, consumer packaged goods, agriculture, media and entertainment, ICT, hospitality, professional services, and logistics.”
“The training will be inaugurated by National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, alongside members of the party’s National Working Committee, ministers and governors with Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the Southwest Governors Forum, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, serving as the chief host.”
“A highlight of the programme is a pitch competition offering seed funding of $5,000 for the winner and $3,000 for the runner-up.”
