Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Philip Aivoji has regained freedom after spending four days in the den of the kidnappers.
This was confirmed in a statement bythe Lagos PDP spokesperson Hakeem Amode.
Last Thursday, Aivoji and some members of his political party had been kidnapped along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while returning from a meeting.
The Lagos PDP chairman had travelled to Ibadan for a meeting convened by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and his Osun state counterpart Ademola Adeleke.
Aivoji was released in the early hours of Monday.
“Lagos State PDP Chairman released by the kidnappers,” Amode said.
“Hon Philip Olabode Aivoji, the Lagos State PDP Chairman, is free at last after 4 days in the kidnappers’ den.
“We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers most importantly because God’s mercies was visible all the way.”
Amode did not state whether ransom was paid to secure the release of the Lagos PDP chairman.
