Nigerian Hollywood actor John Boyega has joined the crowd at London Hyde park as he shares passionate rallying cry over Gorge Floyd death.
Last week Floyd, 46, died after a Minneapolis police officer choked him by knee for 8 minutes. Following his death, protests erupted around the world, with many marching in support of Gorge Floyd and Black lives Matter.
Boyega who featured in “Half Of A Yellow Sun” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was part of the protest in London as he gave an emotional speech during the protest over the death of the “Gentle Giant” Gorge Floyd.
He told demonstrators:
“We are a physical representation of our support for George Floyd. We are a physical representation of our support for Sandra Bland. We are a physical representation of our support for Trayvon Martin. We are a physical representation of our support for Stephen Lawrence”
he added:
“I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but f*** that.
“Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process, we don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones.”
‘Every black person in here remembered when another person reminded you that you were black.
‘So none of you out there, all those protesters on the other side, protesting against what we want to do, protesting against what we want to try and achieve, burn you, this is so vital.’
‘I need you to understand how painful this sh*t is. I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing and that isn’t the case anymore, that was never the case anymore.’
The actor added :
it was important to ‘keep control of this moment’ and make it as ‘peaceful and as organised as possible’: ‘Because they want us to mess up, they want us to be disorganised but not today.’
Boyega, who was moved to tears during his speech, he also stressed that black men should make sure they take care of black women and their community.
Gorge Floyd death has sparked rioting and protests across the United states.
The Uk prime minister Boris Johnson Quoted Gorge’s death as “Inexcusable” in the commons
The past week John Boyega has called out racist and use his platform to spread the message that racism is unacceptable and must not be condoned
His speech came as a crowd of well over a thousand people came together in Hyde Park sitting at least 3 feet apart and wearing face masks due to the coronavirus pandemic.
