The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.

SUPREME COURT CONVERSATION:
Justice Okoro says it is clear that the petition seeking to to nullify the election for non compliance must not only be ready to prove how the non compliance affect the outcome election, must be ready to give evidence.
Says the petitioner abandoned the duties impose on them to prove the gravity of non compliance and its effect.
Says the electoral act empower Inec to determine the best method to use during an election..
Says the unavailability of result on the irev, cannot be a ground to nullify the the election.
Says the petitoner need to lay credible evidence to prove the alleged non compliance , he has not produced original or certified true copy of the evidence they want the court to rely on.
He held that the non-availability of the Presidential Election results on the Irev Portal, did not affect the outcome of the election.
“iREV is not a collation center. Whenever iREV fails, it doesn’t stop collation of results because collation never stopped. And INEC has the constitutional right to determine how it organise or collate results…..”
He also dismissed the issue of the 25 percent requirement for the FCT, as a non-issue.
“Are you saying if someone scores 25% votes in 30 states but not in Abuja, he should not be president? Is that how you interpret the law? That is not the law. Supreme Court agrees with the Court of Appeal…..”
He adds that, Atiku and Obi didn’t present alternative figures from what INEC presented. Therefore, from the only result as presented by INEC is valid and Bola Ahmed Tinubu is validly elected as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
