The death of popular Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has been shrouded in mystery and controversy.

The 27-year-old artist, who was signed to Marlian Music, died on September 12, 2023, under unclear circumstances. He was buried the next day at Gberigbe in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Many fans and followers of Mohbad were shocked and saddened by his sudden demise and burial. They questioned why his family did not conduct an autopsy to ascertain the cause of his death. They also wondered why he was buried so quickly, without giving them a chance to pay their last respects.

However, a new video has emerged online, where the traditional ruler of Gberigbe community, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, revealed that he was the one who prevented Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, from burying him at midnight on the same day he died.

Oba Shotobi, who spoke in Yoruba, said that Mohbad’s father wanted to bury him as soon as possible, according to their custom.

He said that he had to intervene and persuade him to wait till the next morning. He said that he did this out of respect for Mohbad and his fans.

Oba Shotobi also expressed his condolences to Mohbad’s family and prayed for the repose of his soul. He said that Mohbad was a talented and promising musician who brought fame and honour to Gberigbe community. He urged his fans to be calm and peaceful and not to engage in any violence or vandalism.
