The Senator remarked, saying;
I am humbled by the sheer status of my Committee Members which comprise of former Governors and past Ministers of the republic.
Senator Lawal said,
The team that is tasked with the complete overhaul and restoration of the welfare of staff and students of Basic and Secondary institutions nationwide, is powered by dignitaries and nationalists and in that light, I am confident of the fact that we will not disappoint Nigerians by The Grace Of The Almighty God.
According to him, His committee will take the bull by the horn and urgently deal with bottlenecks in the value chain of the institutions.
Some of the hints CONTROL TV gathered that are in the plate of this important Committee are:
1. On the spot assessments must be carried out and documented in video format on what is currently obtainable (establish the current state of decadence in many schools).
2. Visitation to institutions, through the recruitment of former Principals of Secondary Schools and former Headmasters of Primary Schools will be utilised in order to assess the state of our Basic Educational Institutions nationwide. This idea, not only aims at engaging retirees to input their talents, it will also avail them with the necessary inclusion in the revamping of the schools they once headed.
3. Identifying better service delivery for the institutions for prompt action to be taken.
4. Verification, training and re-training of teachers will be mandatory and reports will be provided to adequately place them where they fit for the benefit of our children.
5. Programs for schools will be executed in strict adherence with UBEC guidelines and standards.
6. Encouragement of vendors of print works to come up with new designs of instructional materials in order to make study easy and fun for students.
7. Inclusion of vocational education curriculum to suit economic status of our society. We cannot pretend that things are rosy for Nigerians. We are aware of the economic hardship faced by parents, not only towards raising their children but coping with many problems associated with educating their children.
The Senator closed with the following remarks,
it is our intention to urgently re-orient our children in order to prepare them for their growth, physically and mentally.
