The ”Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio”[FIGC] Chief has warned that an economy crisis is approaching and could cost the italian serie A,€700 million which could also damage the economy.
The FIGC has stated Serie A could lose up to €700m in revenue if plans to restart the league does not come to fulfillment, He also warned a crises could irrevocably damage italy’s passion for football.
The Italian league [Serie A] has been on pending since March due to Covid-19 pandemic which has caused the division to loose over [€500m].
Gravina has warned of the financial consequence the league might face if the the lockdown is extended. The chief is prepared to meet with the country’s minister for sport to discuss a plan to restart the league as from june 13.
He stated:
“The job of the Federation is to get the football running again and prevent the economic crisis irreparably damaging italian passion for sport,”
we worked with a determination to ensure italy gets back to its feet, including football which is very important working sector that involves circa 100,000 employees and genrates revenue for the state”
Meanwhile Serie A club Bologna said an unnamed member of its staff is suspected to have contacted the virus and the squad Would be kept under isolation if the individual tests positive.
