The Ekiti State House of Assembly has extended the elected local government Chairmen and councillors’ tenures from the current two years to three.

This follows the ratification of the report submitted by the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Reuben Awoyemi, at a plenary, in Ado Ekiti.
According to the report, the extension would come to force after the December election into the councils.
