Bola Ahmed Tinubu Nigerias President Elect has met with the presidential Candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP in France on the prospect of forming a government of national unity and to reconcile ahead of the inauguration on May 29th.
The meeting which took place in the French capital on Monday, was brokered by Kwankwaso’s ally Abdulmumin Jibrin who was formerly in Tinubu’s camp.
Both astute men are still in Paris and expected to further cement their talks whic is currently giving a positive vibe dispelling rumors that Tinubu is sick.
Reports say Tinubu is also using this meeting to mend fences between the Kano state governor Abdullahi Ganduje and Kwankwaso.
With Tinubu at the helm of affairs pending a tribunal outcome, the APC has long been warming up for an opportunity to welcome Kwankwaso back to the party a possibility now; especially as he and Tinubu have maintained a close relationship over the years.
The main focus it seems is getting Kwankwaso to join a government of national unity.
Political watchers alike are not ruling out the possibility of a major role of Kwankwaso in a Tinubu presidency.
Tinubu had in the wake of his declaration as the winner of the presidential elections, said he would run a government of national unity – which means giving out positions to the opposition.
The former Lagos State governor defeated Kwankwaso and others to emerge the winner of the February controversial election.
Monday’s meeting, it was gathered, also discussed developments in the legislative arm ahead of the lawmakers’ inauguration.
The ruling APC had recently unveiled its zoning formula for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly. But some members of the party are already kicking against it and threatening to work with the opposition to thwart the arrangement.
In 1992 Kwankwaso was deputy speaker of the house of reps while Tinubu was a Senator of the federal republic.
Others who attended the France meeting include the Speaker of the House of Representative Femi Gbajabiamila; Bola Tinubu’s wife, Remi Tinubu, and Kwankwaso’s wife Salamatu.
