There is tension in the Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state as two persons were allegedly shot by an officer of the Amotekun corps in the state.

Trouble was said to have started after the Amotekun officers tried to relocate the traders from the Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti to a new trading location provided by the state government at Agric Olope.
It was gathered that some of the traders who refused to obey the new policy attacked the Amotekun officer and in the process the officer was alleged to have shot at the protesting crowd, killing one on the spot and critically injuring another who was said to be battling for his life at an undisclosed hospital.

It was also gathered that two officers of the Amotekun corps sustained serious injuries following a retaliation by the traders.
As of press time, the area has been taken over by security operatives in a bid to avert further crisis as several tires were burnt and roads blocked during the chaos.
The Ekiti State Police Command and the Ekiti State Amotekun corps are yet to react on the incident.
