Manchester United Forward Marcus Rashford has been given special award for his generosity and charity work in the UK.
The youngster started the campaign when he heard schools would close and would affect children who only rely on foods shared at school.
The England international then setup a campaign called FareShareUK to help children who rely on school lunches to feed.
Rashford’s aim was to generate £100,000 but the campaign surpassed all his expectations and his contentiousness made players around the world to take part in his campaign which raised the money to £20 million.
His philanthropic attitude didn’t go unnoticed as the sherif of Manchester, Eamonn O’Neill awarded a special recognition award for outstanding activity and contribution to the community.
Rashford took to his twitter handle to announce the award he received;
He stated:
”Wouldn’t normally share these type of things but this certificate is not just for me, it belongs to you all
Each and every one of you that has contributed the few £s you can, you’ve all made a huge difference;
‘2.8 million children a week are receiving meals they otherwise wouldn’t have during this lockdown because of YOUR help. I couldn’t have done any of this without the help of you all and @fareshare’
To be recognized by my city is a great feeling. From beign young i knew that if i ever got in a position that i could help i would and I’m so proud of what we have achieved so far.
Thank you all, you are all superstars, and we wont stop until children and thier parent no longer have to worry about where thier next meal is coming from. I appreciate you all, thank you to the High Sheriff of Great Manchester”.
