The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, February 26 at about 4pm at Tudun Wada Local Government Area office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
This was confirmed by the police spokesman in the state command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
According to the PPRO, the hoodlums again mobilized and attempted to block the road leading to the INEC office, which made security personnel to move to the scene.
In the process, one of the suspected thugs was fatally injured and was rushed to hospital where he died during medical treatment, while four other suspects were arrested.
Shortly before this, at about 2:30pm, a gang of hoodlums suspected to be political thugs had attacked the INEC office of Takai Local Government Area where election results were collated.
“The hoodlums attempted to set the office ablaze, but a swift response from the police and other security agencies prevented the attack, and four of the suspected thugs were arrested.
“The collation of the results was concluded peacefully and an investigation is in progress,” the image-maker stated.
