Popular music producer and founder of Mo hits later renamed Mavins Record Don Jazzy has revealed surprising facts about his professional relationship with Singer, D’banj.
Jazzy faults what he calls constant speculation about himself and D”banj by people without knowing the truth about the issues. ” I never had money issues with D’banj at all.” he said.
In a recent live interview Jazzy said he enjoyed the relationship between himself and D’banj while they worked together.
In his blunt words; “The way i am with people in my company like myself and D’banj, money issues didn’t occur. I and D’banj were so in sync that D’banj can go to Oba of Lagos and return with 10 million and we would still share the money.
”it doesn’t have anything to do with performance”
he further stated why record labels executives should have good relationships with their artists.
”If you are not in good relationship with the artist that is when he or she would go outside collecting shows and not tell you”
“So bond with your artist more, it is not everything that contract can solve but it is good to have a structure in place so that if by chance things get out of hand you can step in and the contract can be what you guys can use to solve your problem, but i try to make sure it doesn’t get to that.”
”I haven’t had anybody leave my record label while they are under contract so in that regard i don’t relate, all my artist have finished their contract and in short added extra”
The 37 years old music producer co-founded the now defunct record label Mo’hits Record in 2004 with music superstar D’banj, Following the closure of the aforementioned record label, Don jazzy set up Mavins Record on may 8, 2012.
