The governorship primary election that produced Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 election, was on Tuesday September 20, nullified by a Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, and presided over by Justice Simon Amobeda.

Justice Amobeda asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to stop recognising Bwacha as a candidate immediately and conduct a fresh governorship primary in the state within 14 days.
Bwacha was also directed by the court to stop parading himself as the governorship candidate of the APC in Taraba state.
The judgement was given in a case filed by one of the ruling party’s governorship aspirants, Chief David Kente.
