“ISWAP Responsible For Owo Church Massacre” – FG

The Federal Government has said that Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) carried out the massacre of over 50 worshippers of St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State last Sunday.

The terrorists invaded the Church throwing bombs inside the Church while shooting the escaping victims of the carnage.
The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Thursday, stated that the gruesome attack of the worshippers was perpetrated by the ISWAP.
He disclosed this while briefing State House Correspondents at the end of National Security Council Meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the the minister, who spoke alongside Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman,  the police has been ordered to go after the perpetrators of the barbaric act and bring them to justice.

He said there is every evident of ISWAP adding that the imprint of ISWAP has been found on the scene of the attack, vowing that they would be brought to Justice.

Aregbesola stated that the aim of the terrorists organisation was to pitch Nigerians against each other by this attack to make it appear as ethno-religious war.

In his own statement, the IGP, also claimed that 10,000 additional police officers would graduate next month and that they would immidiately join the force to beef up the security architecture.

According to him, the police would also be in charge of other security agencies to monitor the June 18, 2022 elections in Ekiti State.
