3 persons have died and their bodies recovered from a building collapse on number 4 Alayaki lane, Freeman Street on Lagos Island on Sunday 22nd 2022. casualties rescued are 5.
In a statement signed by the LASEMA Permanent Secretary and made available to ControlTV today, preliminary report on the Collapsed 4 Floor Building was met with quick response by the agency.
The incident according to the statement is that the building is already in violation of building safety protocols in Lagos and marked to be demolished.
“It was discovered that the building had been captured by the LASBCA District Office and served with all Statutory Notices, Sealed at District and Central Enforcement Level”.
“Further investigation determined that the developer had continued clandestine operations mostly at night and at the weekends”.
An unconfirmed number of people are still trapped inside the building.
Rescue operations are still ongoing with hopes that more persons who may be trapped are rescued alive and handed over to their families.
