The Chief of Staff to Edo State Governor, Mr. Taiwo Akerele, has tendered his resignation to Godwin Obaseki the Governor of the state.
Now former COS, Akerele’s decision to quit the administration resonated earlier during the week where-in he said his resignation is “based on principles”.
In a statement made available to Control TV on Saturday morning, Mr Akerele said he’s still “solidly” with Obaseki in his mission to “transform” Edo State.
He thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve as his chief of staff and the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, for his support during the period he served in that capacity.
“My decision to exit the government is based on administrative and governance grounds,” according to Akerele who further said… “I am solidly with His excellency Mr. Godwin Obaseki in his quest to transform Edo state. His mission and vision resonates with mine.
A growing rift between the former COS and some key heads of the Obaseki Administration got worst leading to the current state of affairs in Edo ahead of the Governorship election set for September 2020.
