The Vice-Chancellor University of Maiduguri, Prof Aliyu Shugaba MIPAN FCSN has on Monday 4th October, 2021 received in audience a Presidency Media Committee on the Achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration in the Education sector through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund)’s interventions from 2015 to date.

Led by it’s Chairman and Technical Assistant, Strategic Planning and Development to the Executive Secretary TETFund, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Gamawa, the team that has been on a fact finding mission to verify the impact of the TETFund projects across the country has covered notable institutions of higher learning including University of Illorin, Nassarawa State University, University of PortHacourt, Rivers State University, NIGER Delta University in Bayelsa state, University of Uyo in Akwa-Ibom state as well as University of Maiduguri in the Northeast.

According to the Vice Chancellor of the University Of Maiduguri, tertiary education especially for universities would have crumbled and totally taken over by private sector university operators if the Buhari Administration had failed to focus on TETFund to provide the needed physical infrastructure for Universities, Colleges of Education and Polytechnics in Nigeria for the good and affordability of higher Education in the country.
Other institutions so far visited include: Federal Polytecnic Nekede in IMO state, in the ongoing assignment.

In the Vice Chancellor’s words:
“TETfund is a major bedrock of development for government owned Nigerian Universities through its numerous Interventions in Tertiary Institutions across the Country. In terms of Learning, Research and Infrastructural Development, TETfund has done excellently well”.
“University of Maiduguri has no abandoned TETFund Project, and has lived up to its bidding under the leadership of the Executive Sectetary Prof. Elias Bogoro”.
Also speaking at the occasion, renowned broadcaster turned entrepreneur Mr. Gimba Umar who is a member of the Committee and CEO of Control Media Network Limited, Owner of Control TV, assured the Vice Chancellor that the facts finding mission is set to be unbiased in establishing the truth about the impact of TETFund for lecturers and students of higher Education promising not to fail Nigerians in this special assignment.
Mustapha Aliyu Waziri, who is the Secretary for the Northeast and west for TETFund says all logistics for onward movements have been provided saying the assignment will not encounter any unforeseen hitch.

Kannywood Veteran Actor, Aminu Sharif, a member of the Committee has deployed crew members to the various institution of higher learning for smooth information gathering and audio visual coverage.
The assignment is ongoing and the outcome will be made know to the public according to them.
